History Keraton Jogja
- Keraton or in the original language is called Royal Palaces located in the city center. Karaton means a place where the king and queen lived, or in other words that mean the same Kadaton.

In learning about the culture of Java, meaning it has a very deep philosophical meaning. The palace architecture is Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I himself, who was the founder of the Sultanate Ngayogyakarta. His expertise in the field of architecture appreciated by Dutch scientists - Dr.Pigeund and Dr.Adam who regard it as the "architect of the brothers Pakubuwono II Surakarta".

Kraton Yogyakarta was founded in 1756 by Prince Mangkubumi (Hamengkubu lane I) as the center of the kingdom Ngayogyakarta. At first, the location of the palace is now a swamp area called Bannerman Pacethokan, which later developed into a guesthouse Ayodya.

Palace building stretches from north to south. The front page of the palace is called the square north and backyard called the square south. Design of the building shows that the palace, monument and Mount Merapi is located in one line / axis is believed to be a sacred thing. In the past Sri Sultan used to concentrate somewhere along this axis before leading a meeting or giving orders to subordinates.
 
Yogyakarta Palace Complex every day opened to the general public starting at 07:30 to 13:00, except on Fridays until 12.00 pm. To sign be charged for admission tickets with a value: Adults: USD 2000.00, 1000.00 USD if you want to photograph and USD 2000.00 if you want to record.

The parts of the palace from north to south are: Gate Gladag (no longer exists), Arch Pangurakan nJawi / outside, Gapura Pangurakan lebet / in, North Square, Complex Exhibition Complex Siti Hinggil, Gate Brojonolo, Complex Kamandhungan Lor / North Gate Sri Manganti, Kompleks Sri Manganti, Gate Donopratopo, Complex Kedhaton (the official residence and the center of the palace), Gate Kamagangan, Complex Kamagangan, Gate Gadhung Bed, Complex Kamandhungan Kidul / south, Gate Kamandhungan, Sapit Urang / pamengkang, Complex Siti Hinggil Kidul / south (now called Sasana Hinggil), South square, the Great Gate Nirbaya (Commonly called Plengkung Gadhing).
